Myfanwy Gullifer is an accomplished ceramicist and textile artist whose work is at once cheeky, irreverent, provocative and very very clever. Gullifer’s subversive use of humour often masks a cutting insightfulness into life, but she is also generous with doling out the irrepressible joy contained within her objects... But don’t be so dazzled as to not observe the nuance always present. There are hints of frustration and poignancy balancing the bright colours and happy forms.
— Belinda Hungerford

Myfanwy Gullifer lives and works in Melbourne.

Trained in the dramatic arts, she began making sculpture after working in the theatre. Myfanwy has been exhibiting for close to twenty years, both within Australia and internationally.

Self-taught, she works with clay, textiles, and paper to make ceramic sculptures and large scale installations.

Myfanwy’s work explores memory and the imagination, the sensual and sexual life of the body, domesticity, motherhood, exuberance and dissapointment, anger and love.

“I use my hands to express whatever it is that is swirling around in my head, my heart... it is the thing that makes me feel alive, without it I fear I might shrivel up. I pluck from my heart and gather from the immediate world around me, as a means of finding my place in the world, making sense of the world around me.”
